Kea Capel grew up in the textile
business, as a member of the third
generation of the Capel rug family. Capel,
Incorporated was founded in 1917
by A.Leon Capel Sr., and is based in Troy, North
Carolina.
Kea spent nearly 20 years in the family business,
moving up through the ranks of manufacturing,
marketing, public relations and product development.
Kea�s final position at Capel was Director of
Marketing and Product Development. Kea also served as
Creative Services Manager for Springs Industries, New
York, 1984-1988.
Kea pushed the braided rug category to new heights of
popularity, working with such retail giants as
JCPenney, Pottery Barn, Lands End, LLBean, Horchow/Neiman
Marcus, Crate & Barrel, Land of Nod, Sundance,
Garnet Hill, Plow & Hearth, Lowe�s, Linens
N�Things, Macy�s, and others.
The rugs Kea designed lead the industry in sales, and
are often the best selling item for individual
retailers of home fashions products.
Within the industry, Kea Capel is recognized as a
leading marketing specialist, bringing innovative
display, packaging and merchandising solutions to the
retail sales floor. The Capel website she implemented
in 1999 is the single most visited manufacturer�s
site, generating in excess of 1 million hits per
month.
Kea Inc. was created in February of 2003, as the
fulfillment of a lifelong dream to build a home
fashions brand that delivered upscale, high tempo
styling and affordable price points to all levels of
retail. The line is made up of area rugs, table
linens, and bedding.
KEA has showrooms in New York, at 295 Fifth Avenue,
and at the Market Square complex (second floor,
permanent spaces) in High Point, North Carolina.
In 2004 Kea will bring her home fashion designs,
expertise and style to HSN
